WENDY HELEN ISAAC

Our dear Wendy took her last breath while in the loving presence of her husband Mark, siblings and in-laws, at home in Winnipeg on Tuesday February 17, 2026.

Her mother Lyn left us just over a year ago, and her father Phil, in June of 2021. She leaves her spouse and musical partner of 38 years, Mark H. Block, and her devoted feline Lucy to imagine life without her.

Wendy leaves three siblings, Peter, Jane (Mackie) and Sarah (Chapnick) and their spouses and issue to remember her every year at this time.

Wendy was a practiced and passionate follower of songwriting and performance, gardening, painting, weather, birds, metalwork, sailing and politics. She was an ardent and faithful Canadian, a promoter of pluralism and equity, a campaigner for fairness and the kind of progressive values that puts Canada head and shoulders above so many places that don't even bother trying.

Thanks so much to the wonderful oncology staff at Cancer Care, the Palliative Care home visit nurses and much love to the skilled health teams on 6E and 8A at St Boniface Hospital. Donations may be made to either of the two Care organizations listed above.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Mark, we’re very saddened to hear about Wendy’s passing. Wendy, you and your then cats, Oscar and Roger (I forget which one spent a night or two lost on our roof before being rescued) were wonderful and definitely interesting neighbours. You were what we missed most about moving! We still have and will now cherish her Garden CD. Condolences to you, Mark, Jaimie (my former student), and all of Wendy's family. - Posted by: Bev & Gerald Kornelsen (Former neighbours) on: Feb 25, 2026

  • We waved next door as kids. Bruce and I and Wendy and Sarah were inseparable. Playing hockey in the back lane, skating, hanging out at each other’s houses. - Posted by: John & Bruce (1sr friends) on: Feb 25, 2026

  • Even though it's been at least 50 years since I went to school with Wendy I still thought of her from time to time. Wendy had a quiet presence about her and a great talent for music even as a teenager. Wendy was just one of those people who you never forgot even due to the passages of time because of who she was and how she carried herself even at a young age; with a quiet grace and a strength of heart. My condolences to her husband and her siblings. Rest in peace Wendy. - Posted by: Kim Stoyko (Former classmate) on: Feb 24, 2026

  • We're all so sad to learn of Wendy's passing from cancer. Having contact with her during her battle I'm aware that she was able to receive terrific support from caring medical staff. Bless them. And blessings to Dear Wendy for gracing us with her presence, beauty, music and creativity, care for the world and nature, long friendship, and laughter. Her memory is a blessing we'll carry with us.
